The International School of Penang (Uplands)

Uplands School is one of the oldest British / International Schools in Malaysia, with its origins in the building of the former romantic Crag Hotel built in 1929, near the summit of Penang Hill, before inhabiting a series of elegant colonial buildings in Georgetown, then moving in 2006 to its present modern facility in the coastal resort of Batu Feringgi.

Alongside this architectural evolution have been a parallel series of educational changes, with the growth of a sixth-form, the introduction of the IGCSE, the A-levels, and the International Baccalaureate, together with changes in the student population.

The demands that modern Penang and modern society place on the School are very high. Many of our parents will live in Penang only long enough to fulfill their contract with a multi-national company; others have taken early retirement from Europe of the Antipodes, while others are Malaysian, long-term inhabitants.
