International School of Riga

Founded in 2001, ISR provides an internationally accredited education in English to both local and international students. The Riga campus presently serves Toddler (2 years old) through Grade Six with Grade 7 added in 2011, Grade 8 in 2012, Grade 9 in 2013 and Grade 10 in 2014. ISR is a learning-focused school where every member of the community is valued. The school has over 20 nationalities represented within the student body with the fully qualified teaching faculty representing 9 nationalities.

Location:
ISR is located on Kipsala Island just minutes from central Riga and historic Old Town Riga. This location means the school is a short drive or walk for students living in Riga or nearby suburbs. The Kipsala location provides a beautiful backdrop for the modern and purpose built facility.

Organisation:
The ISR Board of Director’s, is elected by the members of the International School of Riga in an Annual General Meeting. ISR is registered in the Latvian Registry of Associations. Membership is automatically conferred on the parents or guardians of the students enrolled in the school. There is an active Parent Teacher Association. The School Director and leadership team manage the daily operation of the school.

Curriculum:
The International School of Riga is an International Baccalaureate World School, Cambridge International Centre and from August 2011 will be one of the first schools in the world to offer the International Middle Years Curriculum. ISR plans to offer Cambridge I.G.C.S.E. in Grade 9 and 10 from 2013.  Primary school students learn using the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP).  

Accreditation
ISR is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools and the Latvian Ministry of Education. Additionally the school is authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation, Cambridge International Examinations and Success for All.
