International Women's Contact Amsterdam

The International Women’s Contact Amsterdam is a social and charitable organisation. We warmly welcome women of all nationalities. 

Whether you are a newly-arrived expat or you've returned to the Netherlands after an international posting: if you are looking for friendship and support, you will always be welcome.

Our Club offers a diverse range of activities that cover a wide spectrum of interests. Social, sporty, cultural, historical, charity and well-being: we're sure you'll find a choice of events and activities that'll suit you. The activities are held in the Amsterdam, North Holland area and may be weekly, monthly or holiday-oriented. The IWC functions as a home-away-from-home for women from the expat community who now live here temporarily or permanently. The warm and friendly atmosphere of the IWC can help you with your transition into your new surroundings and make your new life in The Netherlands both interesting and fun.

Everyone is welcome. We communicate in English at all our club activities and events. Our goal is to connect with other women and foster goodwill, friendship and understanding among expatriate women.  The IWC offers support to newcomers to Amsterdam from women already established in the area. With 50 nationalities and more than 300 members, we can proudly say we are the friendliest club in Holland!

We offer a wide variety of activities within our club to cater to different interests. These activities allow many opportunities to get to know each other so that your stay in the Netherlands will be more enjoyable and successful. Our meetings are held, once a month, on the first Tuesday of the month, at the Industrieele Grote Club on the Dam in the centre of Amsterdam. Each meeting is accompanied by a lecture on any given topic that is current or of interest to members. The topics are varied and our speakers are specialists within their professional area of expertise.

A part of our club is devoted to raising awareness of lives of women and children that are less fortunate. We contribute to chosen charities through various activities run by our volunteers.  The proceeds offer financial support sent directly to the organisation that we have chosen to support. 

Our Club year commences in September and runs until May. During the summer months of July and August the IWC hosts summer activities to support our charities for those members that are not on vacation.

IWC is a registered non-profit, non-political and self-supporting organisation administered by volunteers elected by the membership. Through its membership in Open Door (www.opendoorworldwide.com), IWC is linked to international women's associations around the world. We maintain close ties with our sister clubs nearby:  IWC The Hague, the American Women’s Club of Amsterdam and other IWC’s in the Netherlands.
