Vortel is a Berlin-based VoIP provider offering an easy-to-install solution for free Internet calls worldwide and low rates into all fixed and mobile networks. After signing up online, you just plug our Cisco Linksys adapter into a router connected to the Internet, and within seconds you're ready to make calls.

You don't need to turn on or even have a computer to make calls with Vortel. You can use a normal analog phone.

There are no monthly fees or long-term contracts. Each user gets a prepaid balance (we start you out with €10) and can choose an optional flatrate for savings on calls to 21 countries, including the U.S., U.K., Canada, France, Italy, Spain, and even Iceland, the home of Björk and people who really like to go go four-wheeling.

You get a lot of free features too, including voicemail to email, conference calling, speed dialing, call forwarding or screening.
