The central consular task of the Embassy of the Netherlands is to protect Dutch nationals abroad, either residing or visiting (business or holiday).
Consular work involves the issuing of passports, the drawing up of legal deeds and consular statements, the forwarding of judicial documents, legalisation and verification of documents, visiting of Dutch detainees abroad and guaranteeing their rights, provision of information and assistance in case of an accident, admission into a hospital and death. In addition, the Embassy provides up-to-date information on the safety situation in Mozambique and assists in cases of ememrgency. The Dutch Embassy is not authorised to act as a Registry Office and is therefore not able to register births, deaths or marriages of Dutch nationals abroad.
