Clearly, Ukraine is a neighbour of strategic importance to the EU. Its population of 47 millions, size, resources and potential, geographical position, geopolitical and strategic importance make Ukraine a determinant regional actor. It is also evident the European aspirations of Ukraine as well as a considerable progress towards its European integration.
It is time for the European Union to look to the east and see that this region is strategically crucial for Europe especially in the context of current challenges and threats. Europe cannot resist effective today’s challenges if it will be semi-united. It is clear that the European Union’s success depends upon it having the ability to flexibly respond to current challenges and to obtain new partners and extend a space of European values. So Europe must turning its face upon the Eastern cluster of countries in order to help them to strengthen democracy, accelerate of democratic domestic reforms, improve cooperation with them and increase the European perspective for mutual benefit.
