"L'Abbazia" Italian Language School

The Italian Language School "L'Abbazia" (Scuola di Lingua Italiana “L’Abbazia”) is based in the very heart of Italy, amidst the delightful green hills of Umbria’s Upper Tiber Valley. The School takes its name from the nearby 11th century Benedictine Abbey of Badia Petroia, situated between the medieval towns of Città di Castello, Arezzo and Umbertide, and just a short distance from Tuscany’s eastern border.

The School offers adult learners a unique combination of intensive Italian language tuition at various different levels and a relaxing holiday in the beautiful Umbrian countryside. Accommodation is provided in a recently renovated, traditionally-built stone farm house (“agriturismo”) complete with restaurant and swimming pool. Students are given plenty of opportunity to practice their newly acquired language skills during trips to food and craft markets, village shops and locally held social events, where little else but Italian is spoken!
